The ability to effectively reach remote and/or technologically underserved regions with state-of-the-art communication infrastructure is becoming more and more important in a number of sectors. The opportunity to exploit the disparity between demand and availability will be largely dependant upon the widespread deployment of a broadband access infrastructure. Emperion is well positioned to fill that gap by utilizing the ubiquitous nature of VSAT and FWA technology combined with the ability to provide value-add integration and field engineering services and support a large variety of applications that were traditionally off-limits to existing satellite solution providers (e.g. enterprise VPN, low cost VoIP, ERP, tele- and videoconferencing).

These applications can be grouped into three distinct categories: Fixed, portable and mobile.

Fixed
An example of a fixed location application is providing communication to a traditional enterprise location, whether that is a headquarter or a branch location in need of broadband access.
Communication solutions such as IP Broadway and IP Satnet from Emperion can help enterprises avoid painful compromises with corporate IT policies when setting up new sales offices or production plants in developing regions.

Portable
Portable refers to locations within a network that are not necessarily permanent, or those that require shorter-term broadband access such as construction sites, disaster areas or other temporary locations.
Emperion actively works to support aid organisations with communication systems that can be deployed rapidly in the field
and ensure more efficient co-ordination in disaster areas. Also reliable and fast communication services can save time and money when working with long-term development projects in, e.g., the areas of education and infrastructure.
Emperion’s IP Comcentre solution is tailor-made for such requirements. The IP Comcentre is a broadband data centre fitted
into a standard 10- or 20-foot container, fully furnished with a satellite system, servers, workstations, printers, fax machines, PBX, power and air condition systems.

Mobile
Finally, mobile applications exist in such markets as shipping (broadband at sea), oil and gas for seismic research vehicles (both land and marine based) or government intelligence markets.
With the IP Seaway solution ventures active in remotes areas, even vehicle based or at sea, can now rely on cost-effective broadband communications instead of expensive narrowband satellite telephones or terrestrial dial-up connections.
